I haven’t posted in a while, but I felt I needed to post about the Floyd protests.
I am a white male that lives in an upper middle class neighborhood in city around 1M. So I have basically won the lottery of the color of my skin, living in the US and having the opportunities afforded to me by income of my family. I am not going to apologies or feel bad about that. I also know that I will never be able to understand how any minority, especially Black Americans, feel on a daily basis.
I understand the peaceful protests, that is everyone’s right under the constitution. I don’t understand the violence. The violence’s is what keeps the prejudice alive in this country, especially in the rural areas, which every state has. People is rural areas, think cities are just violent shit holes and that everyone will die of a gun shot or a violent crime, which is not true.
It’s unfortunate, that the violent protests get the majority of the news coverage, even though there are more peaceful protests, that have an open dialogue.
At this point, I don’t know what the solution is, but what is going on is not.
